Would this laptop run games?

15.6" diagonal Full-High Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1920x1080)

It's a Hp Dv6 would I be able to run games? What type of games? High, medium or low and how many frames?

Or should I go with the $899 http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y510p/ Which would be better?

Yep. All sorts. Low and Medium. 20 to 50 fps depending on game.

The Lenovo Y510 has newer processor generation (i7 4700MQ) and a stronger GPU (GT755m).
It will perform better in games.

I suggest you either give the type of the former notebook or just look it up on notebookcheck (very useful site).

Also while the hardware is adequate as i7Baby said earlier you should note the following. With a fullHD display you either will be forced to play at NOT the native resolution or to tax your GPU with rendering MUCH more pixels than it would at say 720p.

The 755m is enough to play at 1080P. The 630m is not.
