I have a Xfinity router modem combo and its in a bad spot for the WiFi for the house, on the ground on one side of the house. The modem can't be moved because its internet and phone and that is the only place that both come in near each other.

I've been trying to figure out how to get a better network set up in my house and I just need to know if it will work. First I would get a separate router and separate modem. Then I would go from the modem to a powerline adapter and then to a router. After that I would use a second powerline adapter to bring the signal to the computer that needs it.

So in other words would having 2 different powerline adapters work? One would be carrying the signal from the modem to the router and then the other would carry the signal from the router to the computer that needs it.

You are going to be much better off to find a way to only have a single powerline connection in your house. In general all the outlets in your house will be on the same network. The newest powerline units use things like the ground connection which is common in all outlets to actually make the devices perform better anywhere in your house. It would be very hard to try to isolate 2 powerline pairs.

Maybe try a powerline connection to the room the wired pc is in and then also place a second router acting as a AP leaving the router and modem where they are. Maybe you get good enough coverage from that room. Otherwise you could try just adding a third powerline device and put the AP in the central room. It will still divide the...

Is there a way that I can find out if they are on the same circuit?

It will still divide the bandwidth between the 3 powerline units but it will work much better than trying to run 2 competing pairs
