Hi All

just wondering if I need to use a 750 w version with the below components.

On park picker it advised the approx requirement is only 397 W so I thought a 650w would be more than enough but for the sake of an extra £6 (I’m in the U.K.) should I just go for the 750 W ?

Motherboard - Gigabyte Aorus Pro
CPU - i5 9600k (will prob oc to 4.6)
Cooler - Noctua U14s
GPU - Gigabyte 2060 Super Gaming OC
1 x SAMSUNG 970 Evo Plus 1TB M2
Corsair Vengeance LPX - 16GB, 3200 MHZ
Coolermaster H500 case
Windows Home 64 bit

Just need the PSU really now so I can put it all together.

last build I did was back in 2012/13

cheers

Well, the 650W or 750W version of what? You need to be specific about power supply; a quality power supply is far, far more than just a one-number wattage listing. It would be like asking which car you should buy and telling us only how many gallons of gas it can hold!

Well my thoughts were once I’ve gone 4/5 years I could always slap a i9 in with say a 2080 TI when they’ll be mega cheap, but guessing I’d still only need a 650 w unit to power those anyway ? The RM 850x is only £110 at the moment so I’ve been tempted to get that

If you are thinking of upgrading as a serious possibility one day to the i9/ti then you may as well go ahead and run with the RMx 850w, it's a hell of a psu and you'll need that kind of juice for that combination. The i9 by itself has no issues pulling 200w, 250w at 5.0GHz. Just make really sure the mobo can handle it, some just really can't, no matter what they claim due to Z390 status.

Thanks for all your advice, I went for the Corsair RM550X in the end. The total build cost me £1,345.36 so I don’t really want to spend again for a long while really. I’ll just pass this system onto one of my kids in 4/5 or so years and do it all again rather than upgrading.

Thanks for all your help guys.
