Would upgrading to this CPU make a difference in gaming

I have the Crossblade Ranger motherboard with 16gb of memory. My GPU is a gtx 760.
Here's the current CPU I have: AMD A8-7600
Here's the one I wanna upgrade to: AMD Athlon X4 880k

Gaming wise, would this make a big difference? I'm really hoping it does cause this is the best CPU I can get for my motherboard.

It would be on the edge of perceivable. The 880K is the same CPU you already have, but with the iGPU disabled, and a higher stock clockspeed of 4ghz. If you can get a good price on your A8 and the total upgrade cost is low (let's say <$20) it could be worthwhile, but ultimately you're replacing the CPU you have with a very similar one. You're pretty much at the end of the road with FM2+.

All FM2+ CPUs are the same CPU, just with different amounts of iGPU enabled and different clockspeeds, and I assume you're not going to be using the integrated GPU at all. The A10 7890K is the fastest-clocked CPU at 4.1ghz, but it's almost $60 / 66% more expensive than the 880K (4ghz) while being only 2.5% faster, so it's a terrible value if you're not going to use the iGPU.

Both of these CPUs are only marginally faster than what you have, and it's debatable whether or not it's worth doing the upgrade at all, but it would be better than nothing. AMD doesn't have a significantly faster CPU to sell you, so if you want an upgrade that's going to be significant, you'll need to change over to Intel's socket 1151.

If you were in my shoes, would you do the upgrade? I'm really not sure whether or not I want to unless there's a noticeable difference. I was hoping to run more high end games after upgrading.
