Would XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz work with Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz?

Never really took an interest in ram/memory so my knowledge is rather little here so maybe its a basic question.

My friend upgraded to DDR4 and is basically giving away his old ram which is:
"Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz C9 2x8GB"

Would it work well/Increase performance if I was to have 4 ram sticks, combing them with my:
"G.Skill Ripjaws X F3 (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz"

Or would they be incompatible?
I'm assuming something to do with clock speeds or timings would make them incompatible?

I think they would be incompatible. Different brands might have different designs. I wouldn't reccomend doing it cuz it might just kill all of your sticks
