Im not sure if I should buy or not....
Someone offered me a Corsair HX750, for 75$ CAD. 750W, Semi-Modular, 80+ Gold. Apparently it has only been used for 2 months. The only problem is that it does not come with all of the internal cables. It has 4 PCI E Express Cables, x6 SATA, no molex.

Would this be worth 75$ (CAD) ?

My alternative would be to buy a CX550M for $75, or an EVGA 600B for $60. Need a PSU for my i7 4790 and R9 380.

You could also get a SeaSonic S12II 520 in that range too. Either way, I would only buy a used PSU if I personally knew the person *and* had documentation for warranty. PSU's too important otherwise.

I agree with your methodology, but still wouldn't buy it.

About the internal cables : Buying a third party or a different brand one might accidentally fry your system. Stick to the stock cables always or buy replacement cables after confirming the compatibility with the PSU.

I have bought used CPU's, GPU's, RAM and even a motherboard, but I wouldn't ever consider a used PSU. It's just too important of a part to chance. It's one of the few things that when it dies, it can take the rest of the system with it. For the same money you can get a new unit with warranty and all the cables.

I wouldn't buy a used PSU regardless of make/model. At least when you buy new, you know the actual age and history of the unit. Truth be told, you don't know the Corsair's history, only what the seller told you. It's no different than a used car salesman telling every customer that the car was only driven by an old lady that only went to church and the grocery store in it.

The CX550M and Seasonic are good units, the EVGA is an Ok unit, just lower quality than the other 2. I've used the Seasonic in a few builds and know others here like the CX550M, so it comes down to which you want. Both have enough power for your system.

Here is a good reference, though it needs some updating:

You should try to stick to Tiers 1 or 2. It has the CXM on tier 4, but the new lineup would probably be in tier 2 or 3.
