Hello, I'm building my AMD PC for gaming and VR. Is an AMD build.

AMD RYZEN 9 5950X 4.9GHZ 16 CORES 64MB 105W

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING BOX ATX AM4

KINGSTON 32GB DDR4 3600MHZ FURY RENEGADE RGB 2X16 (X2)

SSD 2TB KINGSTON M.2 NVME KC3000 7000MB/S (X2)

GIGABYTE RX 6900 XT 16GB AORUS MASTER

EVGA 850W GA SUPERNOVA 80 PLUS GOLD 70.8A 6X 6+2

WATER COOLING CPU CORSAIR H100I ELITE CAPELLIX 240MM ICUE

THERMALTAKE LEVEL 20 RS MIDTOWER ARGB

Do you see any bottlenecks? or something to improve?

Best Regards!

I’d get the 5900X, it games better than the 5950X. I’d also get a better cpu cooler, a 240mm AIO is similar to an average air cooler and not really up to these CPU’s. I don’t know that case but you want something with good airflow for these components.

Thanks for the reply.
If not WATER COOLING CPU CORSAIR H100I ELITE CAPELLIX 240MM ICUE, which one would you choose? I'm seeing on the internet a lot of people recommend the Corsair H150i Elite Capellix.

I would have went with this cpu which is $370 USD cheaper than the 5950x

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/134594/intel-core-i712700k-processor-25m-cache-up-to-5-00-ghz.html

And this board which is $110 USD cheaper than that Asus B550 board.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z690-GAMING-X-DDR4-rev-10#kf

I did not buy it yet,

Do you recommend the INTEL CORE I7-12700K 12C 20T 5.0GHZ 190W 1700 or which one? and I would guess that with an intel you recommend an nvidia RTX 3080 TI.

Also, which Z690 GAMING mobo do you recommend? I see a lot of them.

The 12700K if you need integrated graphics and the 12700KF if you don't need integrated graphics.

This board if you don't need WiFi.

Maybe a 1000w PSU.

I second going for the 5900 and air cooling, you could get the NH-D15 and call it a day, it's not overly expensive compared to an AIO being marketed as a "pro" high end cooling solution when it's not.

After reading countless posts about Gigabyte products dying and the company rejecting RMAs and blaming the users instead I'd avoid buying from them, even more when it comes to graphics cards, if you can spend a few more bucks and get an ASUS or Sapphire.

After watching Steve have a couple gigabyte PSUs burst into flames, I would not buy a gigabyte mouse pad.

Cases are personal, if you Really like the look, just be prepared for its shortcomings. There are much better options out there, especially for liquid cooling setups.

Unless you are into production work, you'll not need anything better than a 12600k. It's seriously not worth the extra cash for a few fps you can't see anyways.

Psu Size will be determined by the gpu needs and the cpu overhead. A 850w is plenty for a 6900XT and 12600k and still leaves room for OC. (realistically a moot point with 12th gen). With the prices you are willing to put out on overly expensive and realistically unnecessary equipment, might want to think about a decent Platinum psu instead of Gold.

With your budget, you can do better, do more, and spend less. Just make better choices.

I agree. However, if he's going with a 5950x, I'd go with a 1000w

Which ones would be best for this rig?

Exhaust fan for that case in the first link.

And if you prefer Asus over Gigabyte (both make good boards imo) then this one is worth having a look at.

P12 fans are fantastic. if you don't want RGB, and don't want to spend $25 on a single fan, they are the one to go with.

5950x and a 6900xt are going to draw 650-700W
By themselves, @ 350w for 6900xt, 142w for 5950x. 500w. Total system flat out, @ 575w at best.

The issue isn't the standard wattage, it's the power spikes from the 6900XT, which have been reported to almost 900w for less than a second. Most 850w with decent protections will either throw up a kernal-41 bluescreen, or flat out crash. It's a valid point.

Hey!, It seems I cant find any of those.

Do you recommend this case? THERMALTAKE S300 TG SNOW WHITE MID TOWER FAN 120MM

Gorgeous build, my favourite top end chip. Any reason for B550 over X570? Also a 280mm AIO would be better than 240mm.

It seems a lot of people are recommending the X570S Aorus master, is it better than the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING BOX ATX AM4 ?

Also, what do you think about these mobos:

MPG X570S CARBON MAX WIFI
MPG X570S EDGE MAX WIFI
MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX

What's the difference between the X570 over B550 and why it seems X570 is better for an AM4? and Which X570 mobo would you recommend?
The main benefit of X570 is that the chipset supports PCI-E 4 where on B550 it's PCI-E 3.

X570 has 20 PCI-E 4 CPU lanes and 16 PCI-E 4 chipset lanes.
.
B550 has 20 PCI-E 4 CPU lanes and 10 PCI-E 3 chipset lanes.
.

On both the 16x graphics slot and first M2 slot will run at PCI-E 4 as they are wired directly to the CPU. Only on X570 though will the lanes wired to the chipset run at PCI-E 4 speeds.

In terms of how it affects you in the real world, the main benefit is SSD storage. X570 means you can have more Gen 4 NVME SSD's and more devices plugged into it as it has more lanes. X570 usually has more USB ports and stuff like that as well due to the greater bandwidth. The downside of X570 is that it requires a chipset fan where B550 is passively cooled.

Nothing wrong with B550 though, it's more than enough for most people and the board you picked is a really good quality one. It's just you picked the 16 core chip so maybe you would benefit from that extra expandability.

The X570 Aorus master is a very good board, better than the Asus ROG Strix B550-E, though I do like the look of the Asus B550.
In terms of the other X570's you mention, I would only consider the MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX or MPG X570S CARBON MAX WIFI. The Edge VRM's seem to run a bit warm.

If you like Asus you can also get one of their X570's, the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E and Asus ROG STRIX X570-F would be what I would look at.
