1. I can't seem to find out which server is located where. Someone said
they're all in California, but that didn't make sense to me cause what
purpose would the different in-game times have ? Is there a list of
their locations anywhere ?

2. What is [ are ] your favorite sites for game info, stats, etc. I've been
using WOW vault and WOW stratics, are there any other good ones ?
It seems I create about 4 new characters a day in my search for the
right one, maybe I need a site to scream at me and say create this and
stick with it. 🙂

....I sure wish WOW would have followed some of the other MMORPGS
and paid more attention to customizability at character creation. I like a
small character just because of the way I prefer my camera position,
but I find the only races I feel comfortable with are gnomes and female
dwarfs. I would have loved to play a short orc or human eg.

They are all in California I believe. The thing is... when the game was
first launched, it was seperate in 4 time zones. West, Mountain, Center,
and East. But then they realize that the population was concentrating in
one area, for example West Coast, and causing too many lag. So they took
out the tabs for the time zone but they didn't change time I guess.

I don't think they're all in California but I don't think there's any way
to tell where each of them are. Unless you can assume (and I don't even
know if this is true) that the ones set for Eastern time are in the east
somewhere, etc. If so, you could log into a server, create a character and
check /time and compare it to your local time.

www.worldofwarcraft.com is great when it's working, the forums that is.

Come to Argent Dawn! It's crowded sort of but it's a hella fun server, lots
of cool people. And I can fix you up with some stuff.

Well you don't get that choice in every MMO. But yeah, it would be nice to
have more options. Options are always good. I'd like the ability to shrink
my pet at times, especially as my gnome warlock, I'd like to be able to
shrink my voidwalker, who blocks my field of vision all too often.

Ya that's what has me puzzled. I've picked some servers and just created a
default character and checked the game time, but there doesn't appear to be
a correlation between lag, population etc. I was thinking it might be a good
idea, living on the west coast of Canada, to find an eastern server where by
the time I got hot and heavy, everyone on the east coast had gone to bed. 🙂

I don't know if developers really appreciate how much gamers try to achieve
individuality. Players will create an Atrox medic just to be different. Two of
the best things in MMORPG'S were AO's ability for any breed to be any class,
and COH's ability to manipulate height, bulk, colors, costume, et al. I'd be
willing to bet a heck of a lot of people [ myself included ] had more fun
generating characters than actually playing the game. <g>

Oh interesting, thanks. So they ' pretended ' the servers were in different
areas hoping people would spread themselves out, and pick closer servers,
in the hope of getting less lag, and then it blew up in their face ?

COH has the best character-appearance making system of any game so far. By
far. But as far as meaningful choices at the beginning, it's really not
that much different from WoW. Of course, appearance can be important for
aesthetical reasons but my point is in terms of gameplay it doesn't really
offer that many more choices than WoW does at the start. Instead of Race
you pick Origin, instead of Class .. wait you pick Class. Oh and I guess
you can pick some starting powers. That's one advantage.

I don't think it would be appropriate for WoW to have as flexible of an
appearance system as CoH. They DO want night elves to look basically
similar, etc, because they want players to identify with other members of
their species. If you could be anything and everything like you can in CoH,
then race just really doesn't mean jack. Now you could argue that they
should have different size night elves and maybe even more options on hair
styles and face styles and what nots, and I'd agree, but I don't think you
need to be able to make anything imaginable.

Well, you do more than just choose powers, you choose power sets.
Depending on the archetype your choice of either your primary or secondard
power set makes a significant difference in how you play your character.
For example, the primary power-set a Defender choose makes a huge
difference between how you play the character. A Force Field Defender
is very different from a Empath Defender which are both different from
a Storm Defender.

I'm on the east coast and play on a west coast sever (since that's
where my guild is) and the ping times are almost always in the green
so it doesn't really matter which server your on in respect to where
you are. Just pick a server that's not overloaded.
