I know that the Lite-on burners are cheaper than the Plextor burners, but I didn't realize they were <A HREF="http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=294068" target="_new">this cheap.</A>

Now, I know it says it's a Pacific Digital, but if you go to their website and click on Firmware updates, it takes you to the Lite-on website for firmware updates to the 48x12x48 burner.

Heck, I'm going to buy one; maybe two

Dude, I think that's a nice find! I assume Newegg products to be the cheapest and best retailer, and a <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=5&manufactory=1336&DEPA=1" target="_new">Lite-On 48x12x48</A> are selling for $93 (free shipping).

<font color=green>*taking calculator out*</font color=green>

At CompUSA, with tax, that's $97.41 (at least in CA). After the mail-in rebate, that's $77.41.

At Newegg, with tax and the free shipping, it comes to $100.67. So, that mail-in rebate proves to put it over the top! Sweet!

I don't know if I'll pick one up. The performance and speed is negligible from my Lite-on 24x10x40 LTR-24102B. But, again, that's awesome!
