I want to be able to allow a group of users permission to write files but not delete. I would not be unhappy if they could delete thier own files in the folder but I do not want them to be able to delete other peoples. I thought I had got it several times but then I tried it from Word and got error messages about disk full or invalid file permissions.

I also have a problem of users accidentally dragging and dropping folders into other folders; is there a good way of stopping this? It happens several times a week on our network and it can be quite a detective story finding them.

Word uses temporary files and folder which can make configuring file permissions more
difficult and you may want to post in a Word/Office newsgroup also but you could try
this. Give the users read/list/execute permissions and then give owner creator modify
permissions which should allow users to modify/delete their own files/folders which
Word may require.

Users need modify permissions to move folders. You might be able to use special
permissions to help your problem. Try giving the needed group read/list/execute/write
permissions on the main security page and then in advance page add the group again
and then select in "apply onto" files only and select all the permissions they would
need. --- Steve
