It really depends what you are doing with the ssd.

If you are writing a lot, say encoding video daily, then yes. If it is your OS and key program drive, then any average ssd write will be fine since you doing a lot more reads.

Nope, your read speed is much more important if you are writing very little.

And even with read speeds, remember that the "slow" ssd is like 85% faster than hdd, while "fast" ssd is like 88% faster. You will notice the difference of ssd over hdd, but I really don't see any difference between my 80gb Intel X25M and my 240gb Vertex 3.
