Wrong Drive ahhh!!

After reading all the posts here I went with the 740dxl maxtor 80gig. I thought I bought the liquid bearing drive #6L0.., but now I realize a got the ball bearing drive, no wonder its so loud. Performance is the same, and the liquid bearing drives are supposed to have problems in RAID configs.

ok, If I pick a stable, but fast raid config, what # would that be 1,2,3? How many hard drives would I need?(I know they all have to be the same kind). What jump in performance could I expect and apart from the drives What can I expect to pay for the controller cards?

I decided not to raid whereas I want stability and speed and the 1 configuration didnt seem to add any benefit.

You would think that, except for the bearings (and motor assembly), they would be the same, no?
