I won Gigabyte ga-z97mx-gaming 5,
but received Asus z97m Plus
guy said I could keep it or send it back and he would send me right one.

Does it look like I should send it back the Gigabyte looks like better features but man asus is usully better brand I would like the digital audio port with the gigabyte where asus I have to buy adapter. is the network and sound better in the gigabyte also. I think anyway. I think there both 4 Phase digital power design

Yours is a midrange system with no need for SLI and OC'ing. For all practical purpose they are almost equivalent technically, but ASUS products are somewhat better engineered and last longer.
Go for the ASUS.
PS: This comes from a terribly biased ASUS fan :)

Who knows, he might want SLI/Crossfire later on. It just really depends which has more features that he needs.

I agree, but the ASUS also supports crossfire.

Asus Z97M-Plus runs @ PCI-E - first lane X16, second lane X4 while Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5 runs @ PCI-E - first lane X16, second lane X8.
It would be pointless to Crossfire on Asus Z97M-Plus.

OK fine, I agree that technically the Gigabyte is better.
I recommended the ASUS not because of technical superiority, but because, of the fact that under normal usage, the difference will be non-existent and I have seen in general, ASUS mobos tend to last longer than any other brand, so I think they are just better engineered with superior parts.

Haha. Besides PCIE lanes I totally agree. Asus mobos do last the longest and are made of such good quality. I've owned nothing but Asus mobos for past many years and always recommend em to everyone.
