Question Wrong RAM part number displayed in BIOS

Hey, new here.

I have a msi 970-g46 motherboard with a fx vishera quad installed. The MB has 4 slots for ddr3 ram and is dual channel. I have all 4 slots filled with g.skill f3-12800cl9d-4gbxl, 4gb chips and all are verified working. UEFI only registers 8gb of the 16gb installed and further exploration into the dimm details for each slot, the bios is reporting that I have 4 g.skill f3-12800cl9-2gbxl chips installed. Which would indeed equal 8gb. Any idea why its detecting the wrong ram?

Currently working on setting up live update to see if a newer bios can be flashed. It is old but the MB shipped with a 32gb max, so I dont see it being a hardware limitation.

Bios is up to date. Still registering 2gb cards instead of 4gb cards

That's a 4GB kit, 2x2GB, NOT 2 4GB sticks. Your system is reporting correctly.

Wow. Thanks... you would think the individual cards would be printed with "2GB" instead of the kit number... very confusing

Not confusing at all. The packaging states very clearly what's inside.
