XIM3 Mouse & Keyboard adapter information:
The XIM3 is a discontinued product as the retailer could not produce LED screens fast enough. So they have now released the XIM Edge XIMEDGE.
Though here are some quotes of the difference between the EDGE and the XIM3 from their own forums.
XIM3Forums
Centium - Registered Forums User: My only issue with the XIM3 is the tiny internal memory and the lack of support for memory expansion. I own 14 games that I may play at any given time depending on what friends are online or my mood. Unfortunately my XIM3 can hold less than half of that. If one of the games I want to play isn't currently on the device, I'm SOL till I put it there and have to move another game.
Even if the Edge fixes this issue, I would NEVER want to give up the LCD screen...
Glenn37216 - Registered Forums User: -You're really missing out if you don't have a xim3 ..
I have both but prefer my xim3. My son uses the edge. I'm not biased .. I have every xim that was ever produced by Obsiv .. but there's nothing that solves the aim asisst like a good x/y ratio adjustment does on the Xim3. YOU CANT do this on an edge. You can't adjust the deadzone on an edge either. Xim3 will always be my preferred choice on all cod titles because of these exclusive features.
BTW-Not every smart translator works great with every title its released for. Sometimes creating your own DEADZONE and config from scratch is the better way to go.
OBsIV - Forums Administrator: There have been many discussions about this before. XIM3 will continue to get bug fixes and all ST updates. Nothing has changed here.
Skippy - Registered Forums User: Cheaper is only a good thing when you are trying to reach a broader audience. The original XIM3 sold hundreds if not thousands of units at its price point so I am not buying the "story" that they are not making them because they are too expensive to make. The Edge is a step backward from the XIM3 and sits soundly between the original XIM that relied 100% on a computer for everything and the XIM3 which was virtually 100% computer free. I would not consider this to be a positive progression of the product line.
Obs also states that supply for the screens is not sufficient which I translate as them not being able to produce them fast enough to sell at a pace they want. This, from a company perspective, I will buy. However, I do not buy it as a good enough reason to just stop making the far superior XIM3 product.
My opinion - The people producing these want to sell more of them so they want a cheaper product that will appeal to more people and dont want the incremental cost of supporting 2 slightly different products as their returns are much better. Bottom line - XIM3 is yet another great product that has been beaten down by the almighty $ and the power it has over people, thus we now have the Edge.
