Is there a demo version of Battlefield Vietnam? I've been trying out the
Wake Island demo, and aside from the odd TK'ing kiddy, I've been impressed
with it.

I've been looking through Amazon, and some of the reviews for BFV have sort
of put me off buying it,although it is cheaper than buying BF42 (admittedly
BF42 has all the expansion packs). Is it really as bad as they make it
seem, with Hueys and heavy guns dominating, or is it a case of noobs just
not being able to hack it?

There's no demo of BF:V. My suggestion is get BF1942 or wait for BF2(march
2005).

Well, I've become adicted to the WW2 mod for BFV. Only three maps
(Philippines, Wake, Iwo) but they're large and varied enough to be
interesting. The landforms are the same as for those maps in BF1942 but
the foliage is imported from BFV. Quite fun.

[Responding to original question]: I like both BF42 and BFV a lot. BF42
is a good frontal-assault and slug-it out game, while BFV changes the
dynamics; it's more oriented towards infantry and chopper insertion. A
lot of people have been very negative towards BFV, but personally I have
been very happy with it. It is not a totally new game, but it contains
enough improvement to make it worth the money they are asking. And the
WWII mod for BFV is simply stunning. The Invasion of the Philipines map
is both fun to play and incredibly nice graphically.
