Hello I am looking to start sklirmish level gaming WW2 late war.

I have read a few threads and various opinions and have come to the conclusion
that "Arc of Fire" and "Baptism of fire" are perhaps the best 28mm rulesets to
be considered.

I have already committed to 28mm can anybody commnet on their expriences with
either ruleset. I am looking to field maybe 2-3 platoons aside, a vehicle or
two.

Your advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks

I have no experience with these two rulesets. However, if you are a GW fan,
there are two (two and a half really) sets of WWIIV rules based on WH40K v3.
Have a look at the Yahoo groups WarhammWW2 and WPB. The "half" is a
variation on the WarhammerWW2 rules, with some changes, including
simultaneous movement; WWW2alternaterules.

These rules give an enjoyable squad based game (ideal for the size you
mentioned), using the familiar GW mechanics.

Of the two, I'd go for BOF and rather smaller games.

I run and play using a platoon to three a side using a conversion from
stargrunt 2.
Although sg2 is a sci-fi ruleset it leans towards simulationist whilst
retaining simple, easily understood and learnt mechanics.
You can find a lot more about sg2 using a web search.
Further info on my conversion is on my web page.

Our players tend to like more tanks than are likely at this sort of scale.
My modifications allow this but arguably at the expense of being rather more
gamey than sg2 infantry rules.
I'd point out that 2 or 3 platoons is pretty a company.
A company could expect no tanks in support a fair part of the time.
A troop of tanks is pretty much the minimum would be attached.
Also note that a single tank is potentially fairly powerful just by itself.
I find it unatttractive to have the fate of an individual tank decide a
game.
YMMV.

Good luck in your search.
