X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series Not fully powered?

Hey guys,

so i've had this odd problem ever since i bought a new case and transferred everything over to it. for whatever reason my X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Sound card isn't acting like it's powered at all? Usually the X-fi logo on the card would light up. but its not. windows 7 also still detects the card, but sticks it in SPDIF Out only and wont let me change it to anything else.

I'm wondering if the card itself went out (or in the process of) , or if my motherboard's PCI-E Slots are having problems.. I've tried the card in the rest of the slots but it gives me the same problems, unless my power supply just isnt cutting it for whatever reason. i could use a fresh mind on the matter.

the thing that strikes me as odd though, is if the card isnt receiving power at all, why is windows detecting it and doing what it's doing..?

Well technically onboard sound is perfectly fine these days.

Most likely reason is that you haven't disabled onboard sound in the BIOS.

Bios actually says its disabled. i checked. oh, and technically this board didnt have onboard sound.. it came with a seperate x-fi card, one of the earlier pcie models, forget which one. i just dont have access to it at the moment =\

You listed correct mobo right?
According to Abit it does.

it is the wrong motherboard, i'm thinking of the wrong build. This is the correct one.

Well that clears that bit up.

When you redid the build are you sure all the cables are properly connected?
Give this no boot checklist a quick run through.

If you have the old sound card on hand still, then swap it in and see if that one works. If so, probably a dead soundcard.

Did you ever find a permanent fix for this? I'm having the Same exact problem... Brand new system.. Clean install.. The X-Fi won't light up.. yet it's "fine" in device manager and the only option it gives is SPDIF out.. I also cannot access the card via the Creative control panel.. It gives an error: The audio device supported by this application is not detected.

i7 2600k 3.4ghz
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4) DDR3 Dual Channel 1600 MHz

unfortunately no, i've tried that specific card in a few different slots, than again in another system. never worked. i assumed it went bad some how

Sorry to hear that.. :/ My problem is.. My card works on 2 other machines but not on my new one. I'm still looking for a solution. I'm thinking it's more of a seating/hardware setting/problem the more I research.. It's supposed to light up as soon as you boot up for the very first time, yet it doesn't. Wouldn't that mean Something isn't connecting correctly? Cause if I'm getting problems before any drivers come into play.. I don't know what else to think..

Your either uneducated, deaf, or both. Onboard sound sucks compared to just about any sound card.

Have you ever tried to install an update available from Creative support center: Product Identification Module Update Release date : 12 Jan 10 , which resolves the hardware/device detection issue with SB X-Fi and X-Fi Titanium series on 7 64-bit o/s?

Hey! I had a similar problem when I bought my new Fatal1ty Champion, but when I placed it in ANY slot, the X-FI lit up, but would not recognize in windows 7 (home premium 64), turns out it wouldn't seat properly in any slots, EXCEPT for the only PCIE x1 slot I had ( I didn't wanna put it there cause I had trouble making my dual 580's fit ) I had to do some forcing it into the slot ( lots of muscle, almost to the point of breaking my mobo) after forcing it to seat in the x1 slot it finally worked... Turns out my chassis / motherboard setup keeps the card too high to seat fully in any of the other slots (HAF-X and Maximus IV Extreme-Z)

Also a guy told me on my post about my x-fi to try removing the card, booting up without it, the power down, replace the card and boot it up with it in, he said that fixed his problem with getting it recognized... Hope any of that helps ya.

How is the card being detected in relation to the S/PDIF out? Just as High Definition Audio Device? or does windows show it as sound blaster x-fi?
