Already posted this a couple days ago. Unlike the 7950GX2, which was a dual PCB desperate attempt to regain the performance lead, the dual X1950 pro is actually just one PCB...one card. And it's not going to regain any performance lead either. It's also nothing new for ATI/AMD as they had dual Rage 128 pro's on one card (Rage Fury Maxx), ages ago.

They have it; two X1950XTXs are generally faster than two 7950GX2s, and they aren't even worth mentioning now. If you mean Quad 8800GTXs, you'd need your own nuclear reactor to power that.

This does have a huge advantate over a two card system, even the 7950GTX, they both only take up 2 card slots, this frees up a lot of room that mbs seem to have less and less of. Have you taken a look at the new mbs?? 1 IDE connector, and the only usable PCI's a stuck under the PCI-E making it hard to have more than one usable (if your lucky) PCI slot for sound, modem, lan etc. Ive seen a few things i would like to add such as Physx (maybe not after i get some 8800s or r600s) or the dedicated network card a few have been raving about.

2 GPUs in 2 slots > 2 GPUs in 4 slots

no joke they recommend 450watts PSU with 30amps on the 12v rail, why i had to buy a new PSU when i got my x1900

Yes and this why we won't or shouldn't see this dual R570 card hit the market, not to mention they wouldn't want this product to launch the same time as R600. But at the same time this does solve the problem with CF and mastercads. But now that ATi has shown a real world dual GPU product, it helps level the playing field a little, its going to come down to product placement, drivers, and who took the right design to really make DX10 be what its meant to be.

Are you certain it's not the other way around? ATI had the Rage Fury Maxx around 7 years ago....

Putting them there is not the problem, cooling them is. Thats why i think that if they do come out with a dual gpu product it will be in the 8900 series or ATi's equivelent.

Thats why i think that if they do come out with a dual gpu product it will be in the 8900 series or ATi's equivelent.ATI isn't going to release a card expecting all of it's buyers to use some sort of exotic cooling. Even at an 80nm or smaller die shrink, two G80 cores would put out an enormous amount of heat.

This card should have a good market given all the 965 boards out there and it will most likely be priced close to two x1950pro's[$350]. Plus with physics on it's way you could run it in 1 pcie slot or 1 DX10 card and dual physic cores on a 2 pcie board. Thats if it can run that way and I hope it can. Vid/physic on one board would be nice for a sff build.
The x1950pro cores use as much power as the x1800xl, I think it's like 4-6 amps. I for one hope to see this card on the shelfs.

Something I think you and many other users keep forgetting is that a GPU does not equal a CPU. Adding more physical GPU cores doesn't do any good as there are generally single GPU core solutions that are faster.
