Hey guys,
I'm currently running on 4800 x2. I'm interested in upgrading my CPU as the CPU company is offering some trade-in deals. I can't decide on which CPU to upgrade, and would be appreciate if anyone have any advice for me.

Spec
MB: M2A-VM HDMI
V.C: 8800GT
Ram: 4G

I use my computer mainly for photoshop, dreamweaver, or other web design related software, and some minor gaming as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't think you'd get much increase in productivity with either. If you really have a good deal though, you should go for the 6000 because you won't need to change the board. If you went with the q9650, it'd be more expensive because the chip is more expensive AND you have to change the motherboard (it'd be more than double the price actually).

That should give you a nice boost for your usage.

Agreed. If the main uses of the system will be graphical design using photoshop and the like then a quad-core would be a nice upgrade.

my bad, I misread and thought you were considering the intel's q9650.

Go for whatever makes economical sense to you at the time of the purchase since performance-wise, in your application, you won't see a big difference.
