X34 making my GPUs cook.

I spent a hefty sum on an X34 Predator last week. I've got a decent machine but the pair of gtx 780s I'm running are not meant to run an X34 and one 27" Samsung monitor.

Most of my gaming in World of Warcraft but I dabble in others, ie: Division, Star Citizen etc.
This weekend temps is my home increased as the tempts outside increased, up to the high 60s to low 70s. In turn #1 780 was running 82-84c and #2 was 76-80c. I'm told WoW is an SLI supported game but I get a -lot- more heat and use of the first card then the second. To the point my machine restarted a twice until I lowered the graphic settings quite a bit.

I'm wanting to now or in the immediate future (within the year) to upgrade to a better GPU setup for this monitor. I was considering a single Titan X with the VRAM to run the X34 and tack on another older 27" Samsung monitor for a total of 3 displays.

Would this be plausible? Would I get a lot more bang for my buck by waiting for pascal? Two 980Ti's instead? Warcraft is not a graphically intensive game until you push the resolutions way up and add more monitors. I had NO problems running WoW on Ultra on a single 1080 monitor and the 2 added as mentioned above for support purposes. But that was expected.

I should note I am doing nothing on the other monitors besides voice comms and browsing the internet/netflix.

TL;DR: What kind of GPU power do I need to run World of Warcraft: Legion on Ultra @ 3440x1440 + two 1920x1080 monitors for logistics.

Current build @ 4.2GHz, no memory/gpu OC.

what temps is your cpu seeing? Mid 80's*c on a GPU seems warm but it shouldnt turn off your computer. Have you tried loading MSI afturburn and loading a custom fan profile to help cool the cards down a little more.

Max temp for the 780's is 95*c before they will shut down, i havent read anything about the 780 throttling when they hit 80*+ so you do need to watch them.

I would look more at the OC'd cpu for stability and temps.

I did not check CPU temps because this problem only started happening when I began running the 3440x1440 resolution on the highest settings in game. So I assumed it was the only thing I changed (graphics). The i7 has been running flawless since May 2014. It's possible those temps DID spike that high and shut down my rig but I just did not have Speccy open when it happened. After it occurred twice I did not want to do damage on purpose. I watched the temps for a while but they never went above 86.

I will have to try the MSI afterburner program tonight. I used it before I upgraded to win 10 and had issues and never reinstalled it.
