x38/48 = better video card performance?

Well I was bummed the x38 doesn't do SLI.... I currently have an 8800GTX video card, and will upgrade to the G92 as soon as it's available. My dilemma now is whether or not I should be waiting for the x38 since I can't do SLI with it. Will the benefits of the x38 be waiting for over purchasing another board capable of SLI if I don't intend to overclock?

what are you playing/displaying on that you really need 8800GTX SLI?

X38 will do SLI given gfx driver support - SLI/Crossfire is all about the gfx drivers as a PCI-E slot is a PCI-E slot is a PCI-E slot... it's a standard.
Whether Intel/nVidia will come to a licence agreement or perhaps we may see another set of hacked drivers who knows but the chipset is capable of handling it.

I run 2560x1600. Every benchmark I've come across indicates *substantial* improvements in performance with SLI at this resolution.

Besides.. money isn't the question.

Yes, I won't go SLI until the new cards come out in November. However, if the x38/48 offers no benefit in tihs area, then I'll just get a mobo now. If this board is primarily for oc'ers, I don't need it.
