I have a Gigabyte X470 Ultra Gaming motherboard and I am upgrading my CPU from a 2600x to a 5700X, which needs a mobo bios update, I looked up various posts on reddit and other sites on how to update the bios, I installed the X470 chipset drivers from AMD website and flashed the F31 bios version and ran the EC FW update tool, pc is booting up but when I check system information it shows that the bios version is still F2 like it was before I flashed F31. I stopped going ahead with installing further updates as I don't want to risk bricking my mobo. I also went into bios setting to check if updated bios version is showing up there, but it's shows the bios version as F2.

It has Dual BIOS and you were probably on second "spare" when you flashed it.

Ya I guess so, I used the q-flash option in BIOS, was I wrong in doing that? And how do I proceed with the bios update now? Did the chances of bricking it increase or something now?

Ok this is weird, I googled how to restore main bios and found this answer on quora and did the first 2 methods then I opened system information just to check what version of BIOS I had and it shows that the BIOS version is F31 now, this is confusing af.

Those must be methods to switch between main and secondary BIOS. To make them both same version I think it's F11. At least it was the case with earlier MBs.

I misunderstood what you said here, to be clear after I flashed the bios update successfully the mobo somehow switched to the backup default (F2) version of the bios? Or was my mobo was actually running on the backup bios and when I flashed F31 it updated the main bios and not the backup bios and when I followed the methods to reset bios it got switched back to the main updated bios?

F11? The bios version (there's no F11 bios version for the Aorus X470)? Or did you mean pressing F11 when pc boots up? There's a different qflash option which can be accessed by pressing "END" when pc starts up, if I press "DEL" there it takes me to bios settings.

F11 button on keyboard while in BIOS.

F11 button on keyboard while in BIOS.
F11 just opens up a window in BIOS which shows information about motherboard, bios version, etc. I checked the manual for my mobo and there's no shortcut on anything to change both bios, I read somewhere that I have to use the @ bios tool provided by Gigabyte to change both the bios.

I managed to update and get to bios version F62 needed for 5700X, I installed F40 through the "@bios" tool with the update backup bios option checked. F41, F50 and F62 I decided to install using Q-Flash through the bios settings because I was worried updating when I am in windows might cause issues, after installing F41 I ran the EC FW tool and it booted up and showed bios version as F40 again which was the secondary bios I think so I flashed F41 again, then F50 and F62. It's terrible that the dual bios part hasn't been mentioned anywhere on the support page with the bios updates or in the manual.

After F50 got flashed, when I was flashing F62 in the bios there was a checkbox to update backup bios too, I enabled it so the backup bios also got updated I guess, I don't know if there's a way to make sure if both the bios got updated.
