Greetings folks. So I'm licking my lips at this here 12 core processor but would my X470 Prime Pro be upto the task?
Reason for this is that I game and stream from the same computer and it works very well. Currently using a 2700 which I will be sending back in replacement for preferably the 3900x.

Does this motherboard have good enough vrm to support 12 cores?

Many Thanks

Damnit just checked asus site and supports upto 8 cores cpu? I take it that with a bios update that wouldn't change? hmm that would suck

Asus X470 Prime Pro will certainly support 3rd gen Ryzen, I already installed 3rd BIOS (5007) that supports it !!! I'm aiming for 3800x for now as I'm not sure VRM will be good enough for 12 cores but hope that with some better VRM cooling will be possible given projected prices for x570 chipset MBs. My MB's is about to get out of warranty and I'm already looking at upgrading VRM and chipset cooling although its coping fine with CPU at 4.35GHZ and 1.52v drawing more than 140W.

Might just have to give it a try. I don't see why it shouldn't be able to support the 12 cores. It's not like I would need to overclock it lol. If all else fails just sell or send back my mobo and get another one. Not the end of the world just yet. :)

A bit of a shame I can't seem to find the changelog for the 5007. >.> Have upgraded but yeah. No info. Can't it just be next week already!

Yeah, no changelog for 5007 but PBO changes are apparent against 4804 specially in PBO department I maxed all out but benchmarks show very little improvement over set on auto, probably more of 3rd gen feature. Nothing, including RAM and full OC have changed though, all works same as in 4602.
Elmor said that it's possible BLCK will also be adjustable in future versions, he already managed to unlock it in his custom BIOS but didn't share it. That should be a very good feature for fine tuning. I kinda got used to it with FX and earlier chips. I would also like to see some more NB tuning features. All of that had a good effect in Bulldozer.
