Hey guys, I was reaching out to get you input on a hypothetical (currently). I have a buddy who is running a second gen Ryzen processor on an x470 with a 1070ti. With the release of the new lower end chips in the 5000 series and it being the end of life for the AM4 socket he is wondering if doing a CPU swap will get him 2+ years more of decent gaming at 1440p. Assuming his motherboard has the bios to support such a thing do you think the 1070ti would bottle neck an R5 5600? Or do you think it would be wise to look into a cpu and GPU? For the most part he still has no issues in most games. Thanks for your input!

Solution
Found out he is actually on a b350… Thankfully it’s a pretty well supported Asus model so maybe the next bios update will have 5000 support?
Make sure you get the CPU after the BIOS release. Not all boards have released the BIOS update yet, although they are going to.
