[SOLVED] X470 w/2700X upgrade CPU or GPU

I just upgraded my system and am giving my surplus Crosshair Hero VII wifi and Ryzen2 2700X to my son. Would it be worth it to replace the 2700X with a Ryzen3 3700X? Would he see any decent performance increase? He plays games mostly and I wonder if the money would be better spent on a newer video card - he is running a RX 580. The surplus parts I'm giving him include a 500GB M.2 SSD and 32GB DDR4 3200 so he's covered for other possible speed upgrades.

Nothing wrong with the 2700x...yeah a 3600x or 3700x is slightly faster but in a couple months the 4000 series will be faster then the 3600/3700x too so it's always just a question of today. Today the 2700x is plenty fast so I would keep the 2700x and replace the 580 with a 2060...in a year or 3 if the 2700x isn't getting it done anymore you can always pick up a used 3700x for cheap.
