[citation][nom]Anonymous[/nom]hahaha a friend of mine who i helped build his pc got the asus mobo for $180 a week ago cuz of coupon code and discount... so gigabyte can su** it lol[/citation]

If it weren't for Gigabyte (known for exceptional stability and moderate to high overclocking potential); ASUS would give you a run for your money, even with the "mail-in rebate"; so to speak.

Go over to Newegg and look at the reviews for the UD3R and then go look at the reviews on the ASUS and I'm sure you'll sadly be looking at the ASUS as the level of DOA UD3R's being shipped is a travesty. In my opinion the whole entire LGA1366 line is a mess. Between the high prices and low quality, it's easy to see why many have been on the fence with this platform. I'm waiting a year or more personally for all the mobo makers to get their stuff together as what's been released is not up to snuff in my opinion.

We bought a second board from Newegg for the recent System Builder Marathon and had no problems. The most COMMON issue with LGA-1366 AND LGA-1156 is people putting memory in the wrong slots then blaming the board when nothing works. The SECOND most common problem is bent pins in the LGA. I don't see how either of those common problems points to an issue with any particular board.

My last two boards have been gigas D3R's and they freaking rock. Been sporting the one I got now with a overclocked q6600 and she been running like a dream for years...

Go over to Newegg and look at the reviews for this board and you'll realize that their suggested Mobo is poorly rated and complained about frequently. They should have chosen the Asus P6X58D-E instead as it seems to be the more reliable choice. In Tom's defense, there are not many LGA1366 motherboards that overwhelmingly impress me so our choices in this mobo type are limited. Considering this is Intel's best processor offering, you'd think that with the price of most LGA1366 mobos, the quality would be much better all around. Overal though, Tom's has been seemingly getting it wrong these days on their reviews and I don't understand what's going on there but it needs to be fixed.

It'd be nice if they updated this article with all the latest mobos. I have the Asus Rampage III Extreme and this baby is a tank with an i7 980X and 12GB Corsair Dominator 1866MHz DDR3.

I have the exact setup that you describe...The P6X58D-E with a i7 980X. I must say that I was 1 click away from buying the older P6X58D, when I saw this I went for it. This was the easiest build to date! I've built 2-3 computers before this one & it took allot longer to get the settings & drivers to work properly...

[citation][nom]liquidsnake718[/nom]Thank you TS. I think you may have built and benched my new computer. I see you still chose the 920 over the 930. Even before reading this article, I had my eyes on the UD3R because of the price and the decent features, save the sound card. However because of this article, I am going to reserve this mb and start building a newbie! The next step would be to see how these boards stack up using 6 cores and letting people know what power with 6 cores means using a 1 & a half year old motherboard. Although knowing that 6 cores, USB3.0 and SATA 6.0gb are a long way from being standard, it is by no means premature to have this board as one knows that they will be paying and buying for the long haul! The smartest ones do, and seeing as you guys chose the best parts for the price in terms of quality/performance, the UD3 is a perfect fit for a 5850 or maybe 2!You should send this article to someone at Intel and maybe they will want to soon follow the way of USB3.0 for their vanilla board! I guess these builds are the new standard for high end or borderline excellent.[/citation]

I choosed AsRock because they give extra space between the 2 graphics card.
It is impossible to do SLI on the ASUS, i had it with 2 asus video card gtx560, the first card reaches 70 degree, the second 98,99, 100..........no air can flow between the card :((( video card need to breathe!!!!!
