I have a old X58 motherboard and it originally came with a I7-920 and it worked completely fine with that cpu. But that cpu has a limit at 24 gigs of ram so i wanted to upgraded to a Xeon 5630 which allows for up to 288 gigs. And this is where my problems started I tossed the new cpu in and it fails to even post saying error FF. So i figured it needed a updated bio. I went to https://www.evga.com/support/download/ and found the right bios and updated it but even then it kept failing to post still giving me the error code FF. I was using a GTX1050ti and only a 4GB stick of ddr3 to test the motherboard. Im open to any suggestions

Check your CPU socket, are there any pins bent? Is the cooler mounted properly?

Also, I wanted to note that even if your CPU supported 288 gigs, your motherboard will most likely only support 24 gigs unless it is a server grade mobo.

Ill take a look at the CPU socket again but the board is tipple channel and should be able to support more the 24 gigs ill double check though thanks for the suggestion :) Ill let you know if it works
