Hey everyone, I'm still running off a X58 platform with an i7-920. A few months ago I asked if I should upgrade - the consensus was no. The recommendation was that I should pick up an SSD - which I am. However I have concerns that my mobo is starting to peter out. I'm not sure I want to spend $500 to upgrade the mobo / cpu, but didn't know if anyone would have a good recommendation for an X58 mobo?

I honestly am not a fan of this mobo and it seems to be failing. Since X58 came out so long ago, I didn't know if there is a great mobo out there that has come down in price over the years? Anything that an SSD would still benefit from? I need to take it out to put a H100i on anyways. Thanks!

Your options on buying a x59 will be extremely limited. Best bet: i5 Haswell unless you found the hyperthreading advantageous, in that case get i7. A reasonably priced z97 board is around $120 to $200, and the chips are $220 or $320.

I am writing this post on my office machine, an x59 and 920 also. At home I have a 4790k and z97. The difference is very significant.
