[SOLVED] X58 Xeon Overclocking

Hey guys, im planning to pick up a xeon x5675 for about 30 pounds on ebay with a cooler master 212 hyper evo as my cooler. I was wondering how far i could safely oc the xeon using the cm 212?

woops didnt read that bit, what i quoted was for a 240mm water cooler.

How far you can safely overclock it is governed by temperature, not clock speed.

So increase the speed increment until you get to around 80c at full load, i wouldn't take it any higher than that.

Forgive me, im new to overclock. How far would increasing this take me in terms of ghz?

I couldnt tell you, if i had to guess around 4? maybe more?

There are so many factors involved and there and not every CPU performs the same.

You will just have to try it.
