Hello

I am putting together a build with the following specs:

AMD 7900X
Gigabyte X670 Aorus AX Elite
Corsair Vengeance 32gb 16gb x2
EVGA GeForce 3080

With both RAM modules installed as per the motherboard manual (second and fourth slot) the computer will not boot, no POST and no BIOS. There are no system beeps. The CPU light on the mobo turns on for a moment and then switches to DRAM. It will then switch to the VGA light and nothing happens. The fans and RGB are all active. Installing the RAM in slots one and three gives the same problem.

I am trying to set up three monitors. One is using HDMI, the other two are using Display Port.

The computer will boot normally if only one RAM module is installed in the second slot, but only with the HDMI monitor and one of the DP plugged in. Having the other DP plugged in stops the computer from booting? As soon as I removed it from the computer it booted normally.

Unplugging the GPU and using onboard graphics gives a VGA light, the Aorus splash screen appears and remains, even after pressing del or F12, nothing works.

Additionally, there seems to be an issue holding the power button down to power off the PC when the DRAM light is on. The front fans will spool down, RGB remains on, and the light will switch to CPU until I release the power button, then switches back to DRAM

Windows and the BIOS recognises all the components.

Things I've tried:
- Updated to latest BIOS
- Updated GeForce drivers
- Updated all Windows Updates
- Switched out DisplayPort cables, it seems like one port on the 3080 is not registering
- Resetting CMOS switch

Please help!

Does the computer boot if you fit the other DIMM, on its own, in the second socket?

Have you removed the CPU to see if any of the contacts in the socket are bent?

Yes, seems to be a faulty RAM stick as the computer will boot with only one specific stick in either slots 2 or 4.

Are there any other things I can troubleshoot to confirm this? Anyways to physically test the problematic RAM stick?

The CPU pins all look fine

If you download a copy of MemTest86+ and follow the instructions and burn it to a spare USB memory stick, you can boot the computer from USB and leave it running for an hour or two.

If MemTest flags any errors with XMP disabled (no memory overclock) then the RAM is faulty. It's not unknown for MemTest to flag errors when you enable XMP even on "good" RAM, so make sure XMP is switched off.

Assuming you've just purchased the memory, RMA both sticks and ask for a new kit. It's not a good idea to mix DIMMs from different kits and the second stick may be on its way out.

Did you observe ESD (anti static) handling precautions when assembling the PC?
