x850 Pro vs 7600GS 512

Right, had an x850 XT, broke, on came much bad service from ebuyer and i edned up with an x850 Pro, arived this morning, and, is broken. Gotta send it back to ebuyer, which will be a laugh. So what should i do, get another x850 pro from ebuyer, and cry when it turns out that one is dead aswell, or order a 7600GS off of dabs?

Well firstly did you get the extra back that you spent on the x850 XT? If not try again and if that doesn't work, report them to some Customers rights thingie (can;t remember what it's called).

The second and final thing, don't get either of those cards! Overclockers.co.uk has a 7600gt for £135 for AGP!:

In my opinion it is worth the extra £20 if you can afford it, it is a significant amount faster than those other 2 cards.

Yes i did get the extra back from them, otherwise i would have been in contact with whichever watchdog i had to, and would have told them i'ld see them in court. Not in the mood for slating eBuyers name ATM, even though they are utter shit.

Good find with the GT, think that i will get my money back for the x850 pro and be done with eBuyer, just gotta check that its not me being stupid and the card does work.

The X850 is MUCH better.
It is however built on the 130nm procces so it can barely overclock, while the 7600 GS is built on the 90nm process, so it can probably overclock to around the same core clock as the X850 with a good fan.
But the 7600 GS isnt a good card because of it's memory bandwidth problem, it's bus type is only 128-bit, so even with a serious overclock it can only reach half of the X850's memory bandwidth wich is a HUGH performance decrease.
Also, 512Mb is a waste on a mid-low end card like the 7600 GS, its just a marketing ploy to try and get ppl who dont know anything abt graphics cards to buy it, a simmingly high-end card (512Mb right?) but that will NEVER be used.
Dont even think abt anything over 256Mb for a 7600 of any kind, especially not the GS.

Double checking your setup would also be my first recommendation, two bad in a row is unusual. However, having said that I have read a lot of posts recently about people having troubles with 850 parts, so maybe it’s a manufacturing thing. But some of the posts seem to point to inadequate power supplies, what’s your PSU rated at.

Rated at 600w with 30A on the 12v rail.

Well when I get the report back from ebuyer i'll post it up and see what they say. Also if it does it with the 7600GT tomoz then i know i have a problem. I know the first one was faulty, the fan stayed at a constant idle of something like 5%, and damaged the RAM on it. And messing bout changing the fan speed everytime i wanted to game was getting on my tits, and it had already damaged the RAM.
