Hello,

I'm currently shopping around for a new vid card. Just the best bang for my ~$170 buck..my current specs are as follows:

Pentium 4 w/ HT 2.8Ghz
1 gig pc3200 RAM
6600gt pcie

By no means a high end rig but it's sufficient for my gaming needs. I primarily play World of Warcraft but also soon to be Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, which is partly the reason why I'm shopping for a new card.

I've narrowed it down to these two cards, essentially the same price (~$170).

SAPPHIRE Radeon X850XT

From what I've read, I have the impression that the x850xt is a better performer but the x1600xt supports sm3.0, etc. I know the x850xt has 256bit memory and 4 more pipelines so does the performance advantage of the x850xt outweigh the features and potential longevity of the x1600xt? I don't foresee upgrading to a new computer until about 1-2years from now. I just want to play Oblivion and future games with as much eye candy as possible with some decent framerates (although I'm quite aware my system is somewhere between the minimum and recommended specs for Oblivion). Or am I ultimately just wasting my money considering my other specs?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Cheers,
Josh
