x99 build, no display

everything is new except for a few hhds. everything runs when i turn it on but there's simply no display. I've done some troubleshooting but so far no luck. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the power cable(s) to the GPU securely attached, PSU strong enough for the GPU and rig? Possibility of a short, may want to bench it, have a guide here:

I'll try benching it. PSU is adequate at 850 and cables are secured. I think it might be a short but not sure.

Although not an x99 system, I had a similar issue with a build that I could not figure out, everything seemed fine but no video, all new components. Turned out to be bios update needed to support the cpu. Might be worth checking board vendors site to see if anything is mentioned there.
