Hello

I was wondering if anyone know what the real difference is between the two.

Deluxe II: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X99-DELUXE-II/specifications/
Deluxe/U3.1: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X99DELUXEU31/specifications/

I'm thinking of pairing one of them with this CPU:
http://ark.intel.com/sv/products/94189/Intel-Core-i7-6800K-Processor-15M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz

I looked a little and the Deluxe II says it supports 14nm CPUs, and the other one 22nm. I assume they both work but the other one might not run as fast/good? The 6800K is a 14nm CPU.

The price for the MBs are the same. I'm just not sure which one to pick, featurewise and all 😉

this is what i see different between them. if they are the same price, get the newer model with the usb 3.1 to stay a bit more future proof. makes sense to me anyway. :)

2 x U.2 port, support PCIe 3.0 x4 NVM Express storage
ASMedia® USB 3.1 controller :
3 x USB 3.1 port(s) (3 at back panel, teal blue, Type-A)
ASMedia® USB 3.1 controller :
1 x USB 3.1 port(s) (1 at back panel, , Type-C, Reversible)
and onlt 4 usb 3.0 vs 10 for the other one (replaced with the 3.1 slots of course)

I did some more reading and missed out on the fact that Deluxe II supports up to 128GB of RAM, the U3.1 only 64GB. The only real difference is that the U3.1 seems to be an upgraded version of the first Deluxe, only with more USB 3.1 connectors. The Deluxe II has USB 3.1 also, just not as many. Perhaps it would be better to go with Deluxe II?

they are both good boards. i would not be able to use all those usb ports on either board, nor would i ever go with 64 or more ram so the differences are minor to me. the u.2 ports would be the main difference overall. if you plan to use an nvm drive, then you'll need the newer version. otherwise, the other one seems to offer similar features.
