Hey all,

Motherboard in question is ASUS x99 Deluxe : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132506&cm_re=x99_deluxe-_-13-132-506-_-Product

Here is the PRO version : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132517&cm_re=x99_pro-_-13-132-517-_-Product

And here is the normal version : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132261

Can anyone explain to me the benefits of the x99 Deluxe board, if any? I put it in my cart simply because I felt that highest price = best performance, but I haven't been able to see many differences in it vs. the pro or even the normal x99-A.

I'm purchasing my rig today with a 5820k, 16g, and 980 GTX. Just unsure as to whether this expensive board is worth it.

Personally I would suggest that you read a little about the things happening with the Asus x99 motherboards frying CPU's before you decide to buy from them. I love Asus, they have always been great, but it seems that there are some issues with their x99 motherboards.

I personally went with the MSI X99S SLI PLUS and it's a great motherboard. The 5820k is amazing as well, I really think you will enjoy it. Good luck!

To answer your question though, the differences are really in the extras. The pro comes with USB 3.1 ports on the back I/O panel, the Deluxe comes with USB 3.1 PCI card. The Pro and Deluxe seem to come with wifi built in. The number of PCI-e x16 slots although those won't really matter with a 5820k though. They have...

They have different kinds of "armor" I think they call it, the plastic cover over the I/O, whereas the cheaper board is bare. Dual Lan ports, etc. etc. It's really mostly bells and whistles, some of which cannot even be utilized unless you go with a 5930k for the extra lanes.
