X99 extreme4 memory layout

Hey guys just got my build togather with a 4x4gb kit and can only get video with dimms in slot 1 and 3. So not video with all 4 dimms in

I tried it using slots 1,3,5,7 1,3 are one color and 5,7 are another. Is this correct or should it be installed in the same color slots on both sides of the cpu

Im really hoping to not have to return the ram

when it posts check the bios rev of the mb the first bios is 1.2 the newest is 2.0 and there been a lot of memory code updates for the mb.

to run in quad channel you need to put all the ram sticks in the black slots. These are A1, B1, C1, D1..... A1 and B1 are the slots closest to the I/O panel C1 and D1 are the closest to the 24pin power plug.


You can also read your manual, page 6 shows the ram slots and how they are labeled. Page 15 tells you how to install quad channel ram and what slots to install them in.

that worked, the diagram in the manual was very misleading

it shows for quad channel, to put them in every other slot left to right, but then looking at the board the letters are in different spots than the letters in their diagram.
