im having a problem here, so i hope i can get some advices/answers. I want to build a dual cpu system with e5-2696 v3. But when i ask some local guys, they said with this cpu you shouldn't use x99 huananzhi (chinese x99). I ask 2 guys, the first guy said the chinese x99 will break down when you try to overclock the cpus. The second guy said with these cpus, the chinese x99 will not last long. Can someone give me some advices regard the x99 huananzhi and e5-2696 v3?
Thanks a lot.

I have the same problem with facing same issue but no response from anyone and couldn't find this topic troubleshooting in search engine.
yeah, the chinese x99 is significantly cheaper than other x99 mottherboard. I found an old supermicro x10 costs 300 bucks, when a new x99 huanazhi costs 150. So i guess the qualty of the chinese x99 won't be very good, but there are numerous builds with x99 huanazhi on youtube and no one complaints. It's very weird.
Did you encounter issues with your build?

I have no experience with these Chinese boards so I can't really say, but I've had 2 x99 builds in the past. I mean if it's cheap you can try it, just when you get it, put it threw it's paces, stress test hammer the board with crazy loads, if it survives then it should be fine, now the life of them, idk, everyone I've seen run them never really had one die out of the blue. I'd say go for it, but stress test it as soon as you get it.

Thanks for the advice. I've seen some stress tests results on youtube, the results are not bad. I think i will have to try myself

i have a lot of experience with those huananzhi motherboards, they are pretty solid, ive never had a major issue with them, the only downside is that they dont have any formal support or service, but there are lots of websites that offer custom mods and bios etc. (e,g turbo boost unlock for the v3 series, resizable bar addition for modern gpu support, system stability, memory timings tuning, updated microcodes etc) if u are interest in building one have a look at the myiconst youtube channel. the guy is literally a xeon x99 master.

You can probably find a used server with a dual socket motherboard that is guaranteed to support your E5 CPUs. That is the much better answer, IMO.
