X99 vs Z97 for photoshop, autocad, blender, and extreme 4k editing?

Hi. I am getting a new pc for extreme editing this christmas. And I am currently making my pc part list. But I got a problem. I cannot choose between x99 vs z97. I heard that 8 cores and 64gb perform better on 4k editing and photoshop. But im not sure if thats true. So, I need your help deciding which motherboard will I get. My budget is approx $5500. thanks.

Xeon E5-2697V2 CPU might be the best option if its a dedicated editing rig.
12 cores should cost around $3500 for the cpu and you still have more than enough left over for the rest of the build without scrimping.

With your budget, you can go the X99 route and 64gb DDR4.
But... you might want to look for benchmarks using the software you plan to use.
Check to see if there can be graphics card hardware acceleration.
Sometimes the faster core speeds of 4790K will trump more cores.

A bit off the wall, but look into server motherboards that can use dual cpu chips.
Some of these can mount massive amounts of ram.

Dude your wasting your money on the xeon just get the 5960X and youll be more than fine and the oculus rift will perform the same on both
