X99 vs Z97

I sold my pc and i'm building a new one. I found a second hand Z97 bundle (16gb ram, motherboard, 4790k) for 675$, and I can get a brand new X99 bundle (5820k, msi x99 sli plus, and 16gb ram) for 925$, what should I go for if I plan to game, record, stream, and edit videos on my computer? also I want it to last as long as possible. is the difference between x99 and z97 really worth 250$?

I would go with the X99 if you can afford it.

Yes. You will get 11 more pcie Lanes, quad memory support, much more processor power. To game, the system will perform similarly. For streaming, recording, and rendering, the x99 platform really flexes it muscles by being much better at multi tasking with 2 extra cores and increased cache.

If you are making money from your PC doing the editing and its time pressured, then get the X99, otherwise the standard I7 will do just fine.

if money is no issue X99 for sure the Z97 is still good if the motherboard has good Overclocking that thing will last for 5 years at least
