Hey all so im making a new computer for gaming and video editing I would like to hear your thoughts on my build, how is it and what would you have gotten instead of some the parts i chose.

Case: Coolermaster Storm Trooper
Motherboard: MSI X99A Gaming Godlike Motherboard
CPU: I7 5820k
GPU: MSI GTX 980 TI Gaming 6G (Maybe SLI a few months after)
RAM: 4x8G Ripjaws 4 2400mhz
M.2. Samsung Evo 850 SSD 500G
Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 3TB

PSU: Corsair HX850i or HX1000i (Havent bought yet)
CPU Cooler: Possibly Corsair H110i GTX ( Havent bought yet)

Thats my build, what do you guys think? I never overclocked before but would you with this build?

Thanks!

You don't need 1kW for that, even with SLI it's unlikely to need it. Also, don't overclock until your computer is older, when it's between overclocking and getting a new one.

Video editing wise though, it'll depend on what you are doing and what software you use. If you are going to be doing 1440p capture and edit (for export to 1080p+1440p), 32gb should be fine, but if you are planning on 4K, you might need a bit more to prevent excessive scratch disk use.

1. Generally, we suggest a 650W for single 980Ti & 900W for dual. Corsair HX850i is a very good power supply unit, still you should get a 1000i .
2. Do not overclock. Do when your cpu warranty becomes void. The core i7 5820k stock will do your job pretty well.
3. I really like the H100i GTX, they did a great job. So, you should get one.

Hi which 650w PSU do you recommend?

Cooler master v650 $145 (Australian dollar)
Corsair RM650i $189 (Australian dollar)

Or something else?

Both are great psu's. The only difference you get from them is: the RM650i contains 2 more years warranty over V650.
I would go for V650 for a single 980 Ti as i don't want that extra years (2) with $40 more.
Rest your call

Based on the parts you stated you would be using, I would say that it is in the range of a mid to low performance video editing computer.

I put together a few stories here for you info and hopefully provide you with information you need to decide what type of system you will need and how fast you will be able video edit.

If you want to be in it for the long haul, read the stories at these links after which you will then understand what it takes to Video Edit.

High end systems, there are other systems which cost even more than this one.

Where you found that "I" suggest instead of "We"?. I never think like that. So, no against. I always post thread on behalf of Tom's team.
Now, you're making things silly.

Exactly what tea urchin was meaning. All of us here, even regular posters, geniuses, know it alls etc are not part of 'Tom's Team', We are just visitors too. As such, We don't have the right or permission to speak For Tom's Team. Only moderators do.

Sigh.

It's not a written rule or regulation, you'll not find it anywhere. It's an unwritten common courtesy. By using 'we' you are speaking for the community, not stating your opinion. Personally, for a gtx980ti, my recommendation is a quality unit 620w or better (there are no quality 600w units, which is the recommended wattage) and for sli my recommendation is a quality 850w psu or better.

Both these recommendations differ from the one you posted, so I can guarantee that you do not speak for me. So please don't. This is not to say that your opinion isn't valued or important or even correct, its just that it is your opinion, not mine.
