Probably nothing official until E3 in May, but I would be very
surprised if it launched for more than $299 for the basic
configuration.

I heard it was going to be $299.99 ($297.97 at Wal-Mart) and include Halo 3
and two controllers. But, of course, that was from my 13-year-old daughter.
She's probably as close to actual knowledge as anyone who doesn't work for
Microsoft's marketing arm of the Xbox team.

Not possible since Halo 3 is sometime away. On top of that, NO ONE,
includes a pack-in game anymore.

No chance. I think closer to £500.

microsoft are not going to be selling at 600 - 700GBP
because this is to much for a console

the xbox1 came out at about 300GBP and they sold slowly
because of the ps2

the ps3 is close to launch with the xbox2
so if the xbox is alot more money
people will not buy the xbox as before with ps2 and xbox1

i still stick to about 200GBP - 300GBP (400USD - 600USD)

Yeah, for me anything between $299.99 - $399.99 for a kick ass console is
ok, what I'm hating is the added features that we may have to pay for, like
the rumored webtv and stuff, 'xbox live' is a given but will it be more? And
are we forgetting the accesories every console has to have?

600GPB would be twice the cost of the original Xbox. They were forced to
drop the price of that within weeks to 200GPB because nobody was buying it,
and give everyone two free games and a controller to avoid a mass backlash.

They won't make the same mistake again, especially when they'll want to gain
market share as quickly as possible before the PS3 launch. I think 200 quid
is very likely, may be even for the rumoured HDD machine.

In today deflationary (and soon to be stagflationary) economy, where a DVD
player can be picked up for £20, you'd not sell many consoles at £500.
I think the box without HD will go for £250 to £300 ($500) maximum,
considering that people have been used to buying pretty decent kit for under
£200 ($350), for the last 3 years.

People will also have a whole lot less cash when it comes to Xmas 2005. US
and UK consumers may well have higher mortgage and tax costs by then, so the
only people with spending power will be the under 25s.

I would also expect a price drop after a few months (or a free HD), so when
I can buy everything a need to play a decent game at 1280x720 progressive, I
might buy the package (Console + game+ HD) for £250.
I bought my Xbox when the first decent Live game came out: PGR2. Before
that, the XBOX experience was pretty average, so I didn't bother.

The secret will always be in the games, not the technology. My PC is an
Athlon 2500+ (OCed), a 9800Pro, 1GB memory, and there's only two games out
there that I've played, that even have any kind of impact on performance, at
1280x1024. Namely HL2 and Doom3. Doom3 was repetitive to say the least, and
HL2, whilst looking glorious, failed to excite.

Please, please, please M$, make PGR3 the bestest looking, bestest playing
game ever to grace my projector. Otherwise come up with a new game that
blows my socks off, and please don't make it Halo3, cos I hate FPS without a
mouse.

I want DVI output.

Don't screw the UK over again Microsoft, we want HDTV too this time!

i read a white sheet report telling of how it wouldn't be cost effective
to have the next xbox retail for any less than 349.99USD
