i have an xbox 360 that has been stuck in my cupboard for a year or two after contracting the RED RING OF DEATH can i replace the hard drive to fix it or what if not can i do it only had a small drive and i would want to up grade to a bigger one anyway so .... please any help would be appreciated

Yeah if you can find one, its probably just as expensive and much easier to buy a used console ebay that doenst come with power cables or controllers or anything for like $40.

I believe that the red ring of death is not a problem associated with the file system or operating system on the storage, however a thermal induced failure in the cpu, and is operated by the firmware on the motherboard. If its been a while since it was diagnosed, and it still doesnt work, i think it may just be dead.
