Xbox 360 on LG Monitor (Works fine, but can't set HD resolutions)

Hey there guys!

For a few days i've been searching an answer for a issue, without any satisfactory answer. So i'll post my problem here, maybe someone can help me.

Here's the thing:

I recently bought an Xbox 360 Slim E. Plugged it on a LG Scarlet TV on my living room via HDMI and it was awesome. 1080p, stunning image. But since i don't have a TV in my own room, i decided to hook up the console on my monitor LG Flatron W2252 TQ, which have both DVI-D and DVI-SUB / VGA. I used a HDMI to DVI-D adapter. No problem with the audio, i just plugged the red and white parts from the A/V cable that came with the console on my external stereo.

My problem is: when i turn on the console, i can set the screen resolution to 1680 x 1050 (native on my monitor). The image was OK, but clearely not HD. So i've noticed a message on the lower part of the video config tab: (in english) "Connect an AV HD XBOX Cable to config the high definition modes". The weird thing is, when i used my pc to play on the same DVI port, i could play games in 1080 max settings without any problems.

What should i do to get HD images on my monitor? What the hell is that "AV HD Xbox Cable"? Its the same A/V cable that came with the product box? Do i need to find and adapter like A/V HD Xbox cable to VGA or DVI? I hope you guys can help me. Thanks!

The native resolution of your monitor is usually the max resolution it actually supports.

But PC graphics cards can let you run a higher resolution, that they shrink the aspect ratio of to fit your screen.
And Xboxs aren't powerful enough to do that feature. (They do have a feature where they can lower the resolution to keep the FPS smooth though)

Thanks for the answer, James! Sorry if i misunderstood, but then i can't actually play the Xbox on that monitor using HD configs? On the PC i used to play at the same native resolution, with configs set to high or max, HD graphics. Example: Red Dead Redeption on PC was max settings and HD graphics. On Xbox, they're fine but "normal".

Do you have black bars on the top and bottom of the image when you use "hd graphics"?
You can choose whatever settings you want and they can fit any resolution, but your monitor is physically incapable of actually giving you a 1080p or 720p resolution, because it has a 4:3 aspect ratio, and "hd resolutions" are all 16:9 aspect ratios.

It's also possible your monitor/gpu is "stretching" the image to remove the black bars, which would make everything look oddly tall.

Like if you take a screenshot of those games you mentioned, and then save it or put it into paint and save it, what does it say the image resolution is?
