Xbox 360 red power light

Hello everyone,
I recently bought an Xbox 360 and when I booted it for the first time, the light on the power lit green, and so did the power supply. After about 30 seconds tho, the light turns red, but the power supply is kept green. The person that sold it to me told me it worked fine for him, so is there something I have done wrong? The disc reader works. Btw the hard drive and casing is missing.

The person that sold it to you has probably ripped you off and known about it, it probably worked fine for him until that started happening so he/she sold it.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Can someone explain what a singular red dot means? Also, can you turn on an Xbox without hard drive? Like is there a way to access BIOS like on PC or something without using a hard drive?

Hello,
I am asking about that because my Xbox doesn't turn on when I try boot it with the disc reader attached to the logic board (I get a solid red dot in the power button), but when I remove the disc reader, I get a solid green light, but no display. I was wondering if anyone knew what either of those 2 lights above meant and how I can fix them. I don't have a hard drive but from what I saw online, you don't need it to get display. Anyone know what's going on?

The light turns red 30 seconds after the initial green boot up sequence. Is that a sleep mode of some kind?
