My Xbox 360 controller came with my xbox 360 so the receiver is part of the xbox and cant be taken out, so when I turn on my remote, it just turns on my xbox instead of connecting to my computer. I have plugged it in with the charging cord to my computer and I checked the devices and it finds the remote. I have installed the updated drivers, and my xbox controller still won't connect. The green light on my charger flashes once, but then turns off. Why isn't it connecting?

You need a wireless xbox360 adapter for your controller to work on your pc as the charger cable, despite what some say is literally just a charger and carry's no input from the controller itself.

They come cheap on ebay if you buy a 3rd party un-official one. Mine was a cheap one and it just take a more complicated installation.
