XBox controller for WIndows 7 not working

When I plug my wired XBox controller into my PC The green ligh lights up for a second and than turns off. Windows dosen't even see it. I tried installing and re-installing the drivers but it didn't help, because it's not even showing up.

Have you tried a different USB port on the computer? DO you have anything else to plug into the USB port to check that it is functional? DO you have a different computer to test the xbox 360 controller on?

Tried different ports and tested them with my mouse and they work. Trying to test it on my friends computer didn't do it yet.
