Hey everyone,

I am having an odd issue with my Xbox One Elite controller with my PC. I don't recall ever having this issue in the past. I have not played any PC games the last couple months due to time restaints, but fired up a couple games this past weekend.

First off, I have the Xbox One Elite controller connected to my PC via USB cable. This is my PC setup via PC Parts Picker:

Now, this has happened just recently with 2 games - Dying Light and WWE 2k17. I have not tried playing any games since I did a restart, but I tried several other fixes when I was having this issue. What is happening is, I will boot up a game with the Elite controller plugged in. No issues at first. Then at random times, the controller will just stop responding, and none of the buttons will work in game. Hitting ALT+Tab seems to re-trigger the controller to work again in both games. In Dying Light, not only does the controller stop responding, but all the audio in the game mutes. After ALT+Tab is pressed and I retunr back to the game, everything goes back to normal.

I have tried different USB ports - a couple in the front of the case and one directly plugged into the back of the motherboard. I am not sure if these ports where 3.0 or 2.0 USB. I youtubed the issue, and one user said to just re-install the drivers for the Elite controller. I tried that, and it seemed to fix the issue for a while, but it started up again.

Does any one have any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I can now confimr this is NOT just an Elite controller issue. If I use an Xboe One S controller via bluetooth, it does the same thing, and I had NO issues with the S controller over the holidays when I last used my PC for gaming.Does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to fix this? I have been all over the net anbd I can't find ANYTHING about this.

Having the exact same issue in WWE 2k17 with a wireless Xbox one controller. Alt tabbing fixes the problem temporarily but I'm having to do that every few minutes. Very frustrating but I've been having controller issues across multiple games since the last windows update. Hopefully a fix comes soon!

Hey Jukebox Jim, I have not been playing many games as of late, but I did discover, at least in my situation with the Elite controller, that is was a driver issue specifically with the elite. I went into device manager, completely removed ALL xbox game controllers, and went back to my Xbox one S white controller, and the issue was gone. As soon as the Elite controller was plugged back in, the Elite drivers over wrote the standard drover from the S model controller, and the issue came back.

If you are still having the issue, in-install ALL game controllers in device manager, and try installing drivers for an original xbox one controller and not an Elite (if it was the Elite controller you where using).

Like I said, I have not been gaming much at all the past couple months, but this fixed my issue. I don't know if any updates for Windows has fixed it or not.
