Let's say my particular subscription ends in late May, but I'd like to
renew the yearly subscription today. Would it tack onto the May
subscription, or end a year from today?

So, which is it? Was the other guy talking out of his ass? I'm talking
about a renewal of a yearly subscription from 'Account Management' on
the Xbox Live dashboard. No subscription card necessary. Will the year
begin the moment I renew it, or from it's expiration date? Obviously, I
don't want to pay for the same month twice.

It tacks it to end a year from when your current sub. ends.

If you enter in a subscription card it will start the day you put it in.
Luckily I only did it 2 weeks early.

It appends to your current subscription. You will not have to pay for
the same month twice. It will still say that the current subscription
ends after two months but there is something else that will tell you
that the other card has been appended. It says something like cost to
renew $0 or "already paid for" something like that...

Bottomline is you will not pay for the same month twice.

Why don't you just let your subscription auto-renew on the date your current
one runs out????

If you put in a credit card when you set the account up & chose yearly it
should automatically renew after the year. If not I would wait till yours
runs up. I went from using my credit card to using a subsciption card & I
lost 2 weeks by putting it in early. I assumed it would apply after my first
year ran up, it didn't.

Why not wait and see what is happening with Xbox 2, although I anticipate
the Live Subscriptions will extend to the new Xbox, you just never know!

What if you're going to use a different credit card? Does it matter?
I've heard something different everywhere I've asked.

If I renew, tonight, using a different credit card, an annual
subscription that doesn't run out for over a month, will it tack onto
the current subscription, or expire one year from now?

Xbox Live *only* charges your card once the subscription runs out...if you
sub. runs out on, say, May 1st...whatever CC you have listed in the
Account Management area will be charged that day.

If you're just updating your CC it won't charge it till your current
subscription runs out

If you are changing your credit card details from one company to another
you will need to contact MS by phone to have the details changed,
otherwise the account sub will be taken from previously used card.
Either way you will only be paying from when current sub expires!
If you put in a new subscription code then the new sub will start from
that date and any left over time will be lost.

Whatever CC information you have in there, when it comes time for it to
auto-renew your subscription, that CC will be charged. The same applies
to premium content. Whatever information you have in there, that's what
will be billed. Is this all correct?

Yes.

They treat the last used card as the card to bill. Also, if you change
the ccinfo, the CCnumber that you need to use to retrieve your account
on a friend's machine is the new CC number. The old one is lost in
cyberspace.
