Xbox Music is now called "Groove Music," and is now a fascinating cross-platform application that includes a music subscription service, integration with OneDrive that lets you organize and play your music stored on OneDrive from any phone, tablet, or PC that has Groove installed, and of course a very competent base media player with a fine user interface.

Windows Media Player is still the same after all this time. If your only purpose is to play your downloaded music, and not to use any of Groove's additional services, or play the music on other devices that you own, it comes down to which UI you prefer.
